Half-day conference in recognition of World AIDS Day to provide an update on HIV testing, including hands-on learning with rapid testing technology. The session will also review key test counseling skills and highlight quality management in an HIV testing program. Improving the Quality of Care Among American Indian Patients
One-and-a-half-day southern regional conference uses both lecture and talking circles to share an HIV update, celebrate Native American culture, and discuss practices and beliefs that can be potential barriers to HIV care. Sponsors: North Carolina AIDs Education and Training Center, Delta AIDS Education and Training Center, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Southeast AIDS Training and Education Center. Conference co-provided by Area L Area Health Education Center. Who should attend: Native Americans in the Southeast, and health care professionals who provide care to Native Americans. Travel and lodging scholarships are available for Native American attendees.

Orientation to Adult HIV Care
Two-day course that presents an overview of HIV clinical care. The topics include HIV testing and counseling, prevention support for HIV-positive patients, HIV pathogenesis, transmission and primary infection, antiretroviral therapy, opportunistic infections, women and HIV, hepatitis, mental health and substance abuse, and workplace safety. Who should attend: Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, case managers, patient educators, social workers, counselors, nutritionists, pharmacists and other who provide or plan to provide care to HIV-infected adults.
Continuing Education: Southeast AIDS Training and Education Center is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Contact hours will be awarded based on attendance at the entire training program and submission of a completed evaluation form.

Two-day course that presents an overview of advanced HIV clinical care. Please note that the Medical Management of HIV in the Rural Southeast has been postponed from its previously set date and location of May 2010 in Florida. This clinical conference will be held Friday and Saturday November 12-13, 2010 at the Marriott Grand Hotel, Point Clear Resort and Spa, Point Clear, Alabama.
