State Specific Training Projects
Alabama
Training within the state of Alabama is managed by the Alabama
AIDS Training Network, housed in the Infectious Diseases Division
of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. A highlight of the Alabama program is the opportunity to schedule a clinical preceptorship at the 1917 clinic in Birmingham. The project
coordinator is Rick Meriwether, who has worked in Alabama
HIV projects for more than 18 years.

Georgia
Most training within the state of Georgia is managed by the Central
Office of SEATEC, housed in the Department of Family and Preventive
Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. SEATEC
has provided HIV training from this Emory base of operations since 1988.
The Central Office also houses some staff for the regional Minority AIDS Initiative project.

Kentucky
Training and consultation within the state of Kentucky is managed
by the Kentucky AIDS Education and Training Center, housed
in the Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Kentucky College
of Medicine in Lexington, and a member of the SEATEC network since 2003.
The Center operates an HIV/AIDS warmline for Kentucky physicians and midlevel
clinicians seeking one-on-one clinical consultation, at 866-777-9969 toll
free statewide, or 859-323-9969 in Lexington.

North Carolina
Training within the state of North Carolina is managed by the
North Carolina HIV Training Center, housed at Duke University in Durham, and a member of the
SEATEC network since 2000.

Training within the state of South Carolina is managed by the
South Carolina HIV/AIDS Clinical Training Center, housed
in the Infectious Disease Division of the University of South Carolina
School of Medicine in Columbia. The Center joined the SEATEC network in
2003, and offers one-on-one clinician training, both at the University
clinic and at the learner’s home clinic, and clinician seminars.
